More than 120 TASIS alumni and former faculty members gathered at the beautiful Smithsonian Castle in Washington, DC, for an All-Class Reunion on November 17. The venue was perfect, as Mrs. Fleming loved to collect castles, and the reunion fully lived up to the high expectations everyone had. The caterers did a marvelous job with the heavy hors-d'oeuvres reception, and the addition of MCF cookies was a big hit.
Alumni ranged from the mid-60s right up to graduates from five years out who have just finished college, and there were even a few TASIS Hellenic and TASIS England in attendance. PG'67 alumni continued their year-long celebration of 50 years by having a mini-reunion under the umbrella of this all-class gathering. There was noticeable excitement among alumni from the classes of '68 and '69, who are in various stages of planning their own landmark anniversary reunions, and this reunion conveniently provided the opportunity to do more brainstorming together. Happily noted too was the large turnout of former faculty, both from the TASIS Summer Programs and the Academic Year. The latter enjoyed connecting with their old students and getting confirmation that their lessons had really made a difference in their lives.
Numerous alumni mentioned a desire to get involved in some way, perhaps even to help promote TASIS. This really was a working reunion, where a trio of alumni proposed a new project using LinkedIn. Hosts Yvonne Procyk (Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations) and William Eichner (Director of Institutional Advancement) were very gratified to see so much interest in the School.
