Just a week following the ESC Tournament, the Varsity Boys Soccer team traveled to Milan to compete in the NISSA Tournament. The opening match vs BSM gave the boys a bump of confidence. They played a fast and aggressive game on a familiar turf field and by halftime were up 5-0. By the final whistle they had put another four goals in the net. Darius Paval '19, Fumiya Imai '21, and Alessandro Piermattei '20 each scored a tremendous goal.
Next up was a battle with ASM, a strong team that took second place at ESC a week ago. Moving over to the grass field, the Tigers couldn’t hold them off like the previous weekend and ended the match with a 3-1 defeat despite another great goal off a long free kick by Darius Paval.
The Tigers then took on ISM, another competitive team that would go on to take first place. Despite a tough first half with five goals conceded, the Tigers played hard until the final whistle.
To finish the day, the Tigers took on the host team SLS. Back on the smaller turf field and content to be there, the Tigers played one of their best games of the season. This time Egor Nogin '19 subbed as goalkeeper and impressed the team with some very strong saves. The boys played aggressive and supportive soccer. Filippo Cipolini '19 had a free kick that just nearly nicked the crossbar. Patryck Herok '20, out of goal for the first time, developed some nice opportunities on attack, and Enzo Allanson '21 charged forward to lead the defense with another very solid performance. Alex Russo '19 showed his best tournament yet, with fearless determination and focus. The match with SLS ended 0-0 for the Tiger's final performance of the season. Well done boys! See you next season!
