The TASIS Boys Volleyball team hosted Aiglon College and Black Forest Academy on Saturday in a best-of-five-sets round-robin tournament in the Palestra. At home for the first time this season, the Tigers finished top in the group after sweeping both teams in three sets.
In their first-ever match against Aiglon College, TASIS played its best game of the season. Both teams played well defensively, with a number of great saves and long points throughout the match. Despite some difficulty serving, the Tigers managed to overpower their opponent with their strong offense, led by senior captain Nadir Timerbaev '19 (14 kills) and sophomore Ivan Kozhuhar '21 (8 kills, 2 blocks).
In the afternoon, the Tigers played Black Forest Academy for the second time this season. Although BFA fell to Aiglon earlier in the day, this game proved to be a tougher challenge for TASIS. Throughout the match, the Tigers struggled with getting their passes on target but compensated by hustling for every ball and picking up some impressive digs. After falling behind in both the second and third sets, the TASIS squad was able to find its focus and retake the lead. Timerbaev led the offense with seven aces and ten kills, followed by strong performances from Josh Galmarini '20 (6 kills, 2 blocks) and Kozhuhar (6 kills, 1 block).
