|Volleyball - Boys (V) NISSA|
|Date:||November 19, 2017|
The Varsity Boys Volleyball team headed to International School of Milan (ISM) early on a Sunday morning to compete in the NISSA tournament. As it was their last tournament, the boys were extremely excited. They started off their day against the American School of Milan (ASM), and although it took a little time to wake up, they finally started talking and moving to clinch the first set. Clinical placement by captain Can Basaran '18 kept the team in play. Once the engine started rolling, the boys played very well and delivered consistent serves. Simple but effective volleyball with lots of communication allowed for scrappy defense and good attacks that led the team to victory.
Having seen strong players on ISM during warmups, the boys expected a much tougher game. However, Nadir Timerbaev '19 started strong with his deadly topspin serves, giving the Tigers a 19-0 lead during which co-captains Nicola Barbieri '18 and Basaran stayed focus and managed to destroy any ball that came their way through powerful spikes and blocks. Theo Blank '18 also delivered great blocks and hits, including the final smash of the game, which secured the third tournament championship for the team this season.
