New Members of the TASIS Community

This week we were pleased to welcome 13 new students for the start of the second semester: 12 in the High School and one in the Middle School. These students hail from 10 different nations/territories: Canada, Colombia, Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, Nepal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States.

We would also like to extend a hearty welcome to all the new families who have joined our community!

Fall Semester Grade Reports

Please note that Fall Semester grade reports will be made available in Veracross by the end of the school day on Friday, January 17.

Student Activities Offered this Weekend

This weekend’s activities include a movie and ice cream in the Snack Bar or a trip to Ponte Tresa for dinner on Friday evening, day trips to Milan or Splash and Spa on Saturday, a Proctor Party in the Snack Bar and Dance Studio on Saturday evening, and trips to Foxtown or the Locarno thermal baths on Sunday. 

Weekend activities are open to all day and boarding students. Students should consult the HS Daily Bulletin for sign-up information and more details about each activity. 

Join Us at the Parent-Board of Directors Social on Feb 6

All TASIS parents are cordially invited to the annual Parent-Board of Directors Social at the Resort Collina d'Oro on Thursday, February 6, beginning at 18:00. Guests will have an opportunity to socialize with members of the TASIS Board of Directors and the TASIS Administration.

Upcoming Cultural Events

The Cultural Events Program at TASIS provides valuable cultural opportunities both on and off campus that are geared toward aspiring student artists. Details about upcoming events can be found below.

All members of the TASIS community (students, faculty, staff, parents, friends of the School) are welcome to attend cultural events that take place on campus. All off-campus trips, however, are reserved for High School students and faculty chaperones.

Spring Academic Travel

All High School students have now had their Spring Academic Travel destinations posted on their schedules in Veracross.

Dates for Spring Academic Travel are as follows:

  • Kenya and India (Global Service Program trips): Thursday, February 20–Saturday, February 29
  • Ski Adventure and Poland: Saturday, February 22–Friday, February 28
  • All other Academic Travel destinations: Sunday, February 23–Friday, February 28

College Counseling News

12th Grade and PG

  • Updated “midyear” transcripts including Fall Semester grades are in the process of being submitted in support of all active applications. Students do not have to request that these be sent and should not be concerned if they receive notices from colleges and universities that midyear transcripts have not been received.

11th Grade

  • Information meeting for parents of 11th Graders:
    • Tuesday, January 21, 19:00
    • College Counseling Office (Villa de Nobili, above the Health Center)
    • This informal program for parents will provide an opportunity to meet the college counseling staff and learn about the college/university counseling and programing provided from now through graduation for the Class of 2021.
    • Please contact Mr. Greg Birk, Director of University and College Counseling, with any questions.
  • The Class of 2021 Junior Survey is now available in your Cialfo task list, "Getting Started for Grade 11!"
    • The deadline to complete the survey is January 31.
  • Please review the complete TASIS testing recommendations here.
    • It is recommended that all students take one SAT and one ACT in the spring of the junior year.
    • The only spring ACT administration at TASIS is February 8.
      • The registration deadline for this administration is January 17.

9th, 10th, and 11th Grades

  • 9th, 10th, and 11th Grade students who took the October 16 PSAT and provided a valid email address were notified via email from College Board to access their scores online. A PDF copy of the presentation from the PSAT Score Release assembly can be seen here.

  • Please review the 2019–2020 TASIS Standardized Testing Recommendations/Schedule
  • SAT test dates and registration deadlines for 2019–2020:
    • March 14—SAT ONLY/NO Subject Tests (Registration deadline: Feb 14)
    • May 2 (Registration deadline: April 3)
    • June 6—Subject Tests ONLY (Registration deadline: May 8)
  • ACT test dates and registration deadlines for 2019–2020:
    • February 8 (Registration deadline: Jan 17)
    • April 4 (during Spring Holiday—test available at other testing centers)
    • June 13 (school closed—test available at other testing centers)
    • Spring Semester Test dates:
      • January 18

      • April 25

    • Registration information and instructions, including the “bulk registration code” unique to each test date, will be sent from when the registration period for each exam opens. TASIS students should register with the code, which is valid until 10 days before the exam. Registration during the 10 days prior to the exam is open to the public (including TASIS students) and can be done without a code. Please note that only 12 seats are available for each test administration. Early registration is encouraged.
