Ballet Dancers from Teatro Alla Scala to Perform at TASIS on Sunday
Five dancers plus for the first time a soloist from the Corps de Ballet of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan will be performing three classical pas-de-deux and one contemporary group piece in the Palestra at 19:00 on Sunday, October 20. Performances will include the following:
- From Le Corsaire, inspired by Lord Byron's epic poem, “The Corsair”
- From The Flames of Paris, a ballet in four acts based on songs of the French Revolution
- Grand Pas Classique from the ballet Raymonda. This ballet is famous above all for its Grand Pas Classique in the third act, which is often performed independently from the ballet itself.
- Alchemy: a contemporary group dance choreographed by soloist dancer Matteo Gavazzi
A group of Corps de Ballet dancers has been coming to TASIS every few years for the past 20 years. We are fortunate that they are willing to sacrifice their day off to come and perform for us since they are often on tour. They were in China this summer, will be heading to Kuwait in January to perform Giselle, will be in Los Angeles for Giselle and Onjegin this spring, and will go to Japan to perform the dance scenes in the opera La Traviata this summer.
Everyone is welcome to attend this TASIS Cultural Event!

A Message from the Library: Usborne Book Fair Returns Very Soon!
At the beginning of November, the ES Library will host its annual Fall Usborne Book Fair. I would like to extend a warm welcome to all parents to attend the fair. Please see the dates and times below:
- Thursday, November 7: Upper Lobby of the Palmer Center (11:15–17:00)
- Friday, November 8: Upper Lobby of the Palmer Center (8:00–17:00)
Parents are welcome to come anytime during opening hours. Homeroom teachers will bring their classes to the fair for a 30-minute block. While there, students will be able to purchase books directly or order them for later delivery. Here is how it works:
Children who bring money to school
They may select their books and make a direct payment. Some books may not be available upon purchase. These will be pre-paid and ordered. They will be delivered to the school library within 2–3 weeks.
Children who do not bring money to school
They may create a wish list (on a blue sheet of paper received at the fair) that will be sent home the same day. If parents approve of the book choices, students are asked to bring the correct amount of money (in Swiss Francs) the following day to give to their teachers, who will then pass it on to me. The books will be ordered and delivered to the ES Library within 2–3 weeks.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Many thanks for your support, and I look forward to seeing you at the fair.
Reserve Your Seats for A Christmas Carol Before it’s Too Late!
Seats are filling up quickly for A Christmas Carol, which will be performed in the Palmer Center on Friday, November 15 (19:30), on Saturday, November 16 (19:30), and on Sunday, November 17 (14:30).
Yoga Marathon on November 23: Register Now
You can now register for the second annual TASIS Yoga Marathon, which will take place on Saturday, November 23, from 9:00–16:30. To register and see a full schedule of events, visit tasis.ch/yogamarathon.
A Safety Note About the Morning Drop-Off Routine
The TASIS Security Team would like us to remind families that when students are dropped off on the Hadsall side of the street, they should always exit their vehicle on the right side (the side farther away from the street) for safety reasons.
No ES Weekly Bulletin the Next Two Weeks
Please note that the next ES Weekly Bulletin will be sent on Friday, November 8, as we typically do not send bulletins on the Friday preceding a week in which classes are not in session (or during the week in which classes are not in session). If any school-related information needs to be communicated in the meantime, it will be emailed directly.
