On February 11th, the Carondelet House in downtown Los Angeles was the venue for a lively TASIS reunion. A large group of alumni, 130 in all, flocked in to spend an evening catching up with old friends and making new ones across the TASIS years. Attendees ranged from the '60s right through to 2011, with an especially strong showing from the early ’80s. This group is still talking about the amazing reunion in Turkey last year! Beloved veteran teacher Horst Dürrschmidt also made the journey to LA to join in, to the delight of alumni across his 35 years at TASIS. The photo booth, a popular stop, did a brisk trade. DJ Alfred provided dance music, Ron DeAngelis ’96 performed a set with his band and, to wrap up the evening, Todd Fletcher supplied his trademark impromptu sing-along at the piano.
Michele Josue ’97 surpassed her own ever-high standards with this event. She chose a beautiful and ‘cool’ venue and mounted a display of TASIS and Lugano-related items to encourage reminiscence about all aspects of the School, including sack lunches, dorm life, trips to Valle Verzasca, ski term, and even a little suit of armor that looked like a pocket-sized version of the one in the De Nobili dining room. As always, a huge ‘Grazie mille’ to Michele from us in the Alumni office!
