From beginning to end, the TASIS 70’s Reunion in Miami was undeniably, one of the most memorable, fun, emotional, unforgettable experiences, shared by all attendees and alumni. Thirty friends, some old, some new, composed an image that will forever be cherished and engraved in our memories.
The opening cocktail reception had us all gathered in front of the beautiful banner featuring the TASIS 70’s Miami Reunion Logo, and our very own Mrs. M. Crist Fleming looking over us; compliments of and thanks to the creativity of one of our fellow 70s graduates, and greatest supporters. We shined like stars, enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres, while sporting our TASIS logo coffee mugs, TASIS baseball caps and memorabilia sent directly from the Alumni office in Lugano. A surprise event was added later that night – a tour of Miami that was more like a party-on-wheels in a tricolored, vintage school bus with laser lights and blaring Latin music, which needless to say, had us all dancing.
Early Saturday morning, a bus picked us up and took us to Brickell Marina for a 3-hour cruise on a Great White Catamaran on Biscayne Bay. Cheers of joy, whistling and outbursts of happiness were heard when a conductor in a jet ski delivered jugs of O.J. alongside the vessel in the middle of the Bay. It was “mimosa time”! Soon thereafter, the moment was transformed into a picturesque day of sailing, and ended with a view of Miami’s breathtaking skyline, the colors of the water and sunny skies, it was another perfect day!
The “au revoir” dinner at Barceloneta restaurant (owned by the daughter of one our alumni) could not have been a more fun-filled, gourmet, emotional, and bittersweet ending to the magical weekend! There were tears of joy when the reunion hostess addressed us and was presented with a beautifully engraved token of appreciation from the entire group. The weekend’s magic slowly came to an end, but will always live with us! Live jazz music during breakfast on the hotel courtyard terrace was the setting where hugs and unwanted goodbyes ensued as the hotel shuttle made its trips to the airport throughout the day.
Looking forward to the next one! This is too great a feeling not to insist on an encore!
