On March 8 a lively group of alumni came together to reconnect and share stories during the All-Class Reunion in Washington, DC. Alumni from every decade attended, including Vicky Thompson Tillotson who attended Swiss Holiday in 1956 - during which Mrs. Fleming decided to open a year-round school! Summer staff and former faculty also joined the celebration.
A few remarkable stories came up, including one from Robert and Mary Winer (faculty from the 70s), who told us about a strange incident on the Beltway a year or so ago, when a man rolled down his window and shouted at them, at 60 mph, having spotted their TASIS car sticker! They understood the words "TASIS" and "Korean embassy" and emailed us the next day. We figured out that the culprit was Ho-San Kim '97, and were delighted to bring the Winers and Ho-San together at the reunion - at a much more leisurely 0 mph!
We also discovered a TASIS connection at the Embassy. Marco Mosca has opted for the life of a diplomat, but grew up in Montagnola, helping out in the TASIS kitchen for three summers.
As per the usual at these events, people were thrilled to catch up with classmates, but also to make new acquaintances, and two participants of this summer’s Alumni Hike in the French Jura were able to get to know each other, as well as meet Harry Belin, the proprietor of the Chateau d'Andelot which will be their home away from home this summer.
Thank you to everyone at the Embassy who made us so welcome, staying on to chat until 22:00! As Minister Guillaume Scheurer said – there was no “Polizeistunde”!
