Dear TASIS Community, Today marks the beginning of our distance learning model, the guidelines for which were announced last week and are outlined here. I truly believe this is an opportunity for educators to stretch their muscles with new and innovative pedagogy, and for our students to stretch themselves as independent learners.
If you have any questions about your child's distance learning experience, please do not hesitate to contact the teacher first. Dr. Mark Abisi (HS), Tim Fitzgerald (MS), and Guia Berera or Tim Fitzgerald (ES) are also available to help if needed.
To follow up on our announcement last week, we have learned that the TASIS student whose father tested positive for coronavirus tested negative for coronavirus herself. Also, shortly after we closed the campus, we were made aware of another TASIS high school family whose parents tested positive for coronavirus but whose children tested negative.
As a community, we are likely to hear about other cases of positive tests for coronavirus or of exposure to loved ones, colleagues, or others who have tested positive. As a school, to reduce the possibility of misinformation and rumor, we will work with our School Doctor and local authorities to follow all necessary declaration procedures and will share only reliable and necessary information with you.
We continue to monitor federal and local guidance on these matters and are making adjustments to our campus activities. Our campus is currently closed to students and is running with minimal staff. Work on the parking lot construction project will be subject to change as construction companies adjust to the recent measures announced by cantonal authorities.
While we continue to face challenges, I remain proud of the indomitable TASIS spirit. Of course we will keep you updated on all developments, and thanks to all of you for your understanding and patience during this time. Sincerely,
Christopher Nikoloff TASIS Headmaster |
