TASIS kicked off International Week 2020 on the morning of February 10 with an Opening Ceremony that included the Parade of Flags, the presentation of Torch Awards, an IB Theatre presentation, and several outstanding music and dance performances.
Student filmmaker Daisy Bachofen '20 did an outstanding job capturing the excitement of this year's International Food Fair, a signature event in which High School students from all over the world set up tables in historic Villa de Nobili and share their nation's cuisine with the TASIS community.
Joy Mack '21 discusses how a school as international as TASIS benefits from setting aside one week each year to celebrate the cultural richness of its community. Alexia Dochnal '22 and Jane Wilson '22 examine how their time at TASIS has made them more international, reflect upon why International Week is such an important tradition, and discuss some of their favorite memories through the years.
Although there are earlier references to "International Day" or "International Night" scattered throughout our archives, the first reference to "International Week" we could find was in the 1995 yearbook. Have a look at how the yearbook team covered the week that year—and see how the event evolved in subsequent years.
