Class of 2012: 10th Anniversary Reunion | Lugano
Class of 2012 Reunion_17062022

While TASIS was being transformed for the opening of the 2022 Summer Programs, this 10-year reunion brought the campus back to life on Friday, June 17. Four alumni stayed in the Lanterna dormitory for the weekend, each arriving amid hugs and a surreal disbelief at being back at TASIS. One even arrived with Swiss Francs that are no longer in circulation—after 10 years!

The rest of the attendees—including three members of the Class of 2013 and one from the Class of 2011—trickled in in time for the campus tour at 18:00. Each guest was warmly welcomed upon arrival, and the tour was led by Director of Institutional Advancement Bill Eichner. The excitement of being back made it a challenge to keep the group in motion!

One highlight of the tour was visiting the Drawing and Painting Studio in the Şahenk Fine Arts Center, where Visual Arts Department Chair Martyn Dukes set up a display of artwork created by members of the Class of 2012 and invited the guests to (finally!) take their pieces home. The tour ended with the class spilling into the Casa Fleming garden for Mimosa cocktails, wine, appetizers and a delicious buffet dinner.

The evening progressed with alumni reminiscing, flipping through their senior yearbook, and enjoying the 2012 end-of-year slideshow together. The exchange of many memories and dinner by candlelight kept the alumni engaged well past midnight. The good times continued on the following night, as the class ventured downtown to enjoy dinner at Shaker and dancing at Seven.

It was gratifying to see how these alumni are still so connected to each other and to TASIS. There is already talk of a 15th-year reunion and promises to attend the All-Class Reunion in Washington, D.C., on Friday, November 18. Many thanks to Alexis de Bruin for pulling this reunion together and to Ekaterina Ikonomova for organizing the evening in Lugano!
