Music
Excellence in the arts and music lies at the heart of the TASIS mission and history. Music classes are included in the curriculum in all three divisions of the school. Lessons focus on music appreciation, listening, creating/composition, and performing.
Elementary School
Singing is at the heart of the Elementary School Core Knowledge program, and students are also actively involved in making music together with a wide range of percussion instruments. Additionally, we offer an ES choir, a guitar club, and a junior string ensemble as part of the After-School Program.
Middle School
The Middle School program expands on the fundamental theory, listening, and history of music developed in the ES program. We also offer a MS choir as part of the After-School program and an MS Band for instrumentalists.
High School
From 9th grade, students may choose one or more of the four music electives currently available: Music Literacy and Composition, Music Theater, Choir, and Ensemble. Some of these classes are scheduled within the school day and some as an after-school class, and all are full-credit courses.
Annually our students may participate in many and varied performances, such as the Family Weekend assembly, cultural event concerts, the Christmas Service, International Week, divisional talent shows, and the Spring Arts Festival. Additional opportunities are sometimes offered, including master classes and festival competitions, and students are able to attend external concerts, music festivals, exhibitions, and shows that are arranged by our Cultural Events Coordinator.
