Sweet November Dance Concert: It's You I like

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2025 • 19:00

This year’s Sweet November Dance Company Concert, It’s You I Like, will be performed in front of a live audience in the Palmer Cultural Center at 19:00 on Wednesday, November 26. The concert features dancers from the Middle School and High School divisions, including the Middle School Contemporary/Aerial Dance and Hip Hop classes and the High School Performing Arts, Contemporary, Street Jazz, and Hip Hop classes.

The program will include student-choreographed works, faculty choreography by Julie Frazier-Smith and Guilherme Frugoni, and a special piece by guest choreographer Jess Gardolin (Locarno-based actor, dancer, and aerialist originally from Rio do Sul, Brazil). Five aerial dancers have been selected to perform in Gardolin’s guest artist aerial hoop piece, and the evening will also include a faculty aerial hoop work premiering as part of the concert.

Several soloists will be featured throughout the program, and these performers—along with those in the High School Contemporary, Street Jazz, and Hip Hop pieces—will also compete in Paris the following weekend at the 2025 Future Cheer Brings It On competition.

Artistic Director's Note
This year’s concert is inspired by Fred Rogers’ gentle and timeless song, “It’s You I Like,” a heartfelt reminder that what matters most is who we are inside.

The High School Performing Arts class threads together the evening of dance through an original story in which three of Mister Rogers’ dear friends plan a secret birthday celebration for him. As they work to set up the party without being caught, unexpected moments challenge their plans, leading them to rethink how best to show their love and gratitude. Through creativity, teamwork, and a few surprises along the way, they discover the joy of celebrating Mister Rogers’ kindness in the most heartfelt and inclusive way—with the entire cast joining in the spirit of the occasion.

This performance is also a celebration of the growth of dance at TASIS, showcasing the creativity, technique, and teamwork of our talented students. The evening highlights ensemble works, soloists, and aerial performances, offering a wide variety of styles and stories that reflect the depth of our program.

In honor of Mister Rogers and in celebration of Cardigan Day, which takes place every November and coincides with World Kindness Day, we warmly invite audience members to wear their favorite cardigan to the concert. Let’s fill the theater with warmth, color, and kindness as we honor his legacy and remember his message: that the most meaningful gift we can give the world is to love and be loved just as we are.

“It’s You I Like,” by Fred Rogers

It’s you I like,
 Not the things you wear,
Not the way you do your hair—
 But it’s you I like.

The way you are right now,
The way down deep inside you,
Not the things that hide you,
 Not your toys,
 They’re just beside you.

But it’s you I like,
 Every part of you,
Your skin, your eyes, your feelings,
 Whether old or new.

I hope that you’ll remember,
 Even when you’re feeling blue,
 That it’s you I like,
 It’s you yourself,
 It’s you,
 It’s you I like.
