Summer 2026
From two outstanding sessions of the renowned TASIS Summer Programs and three days of joyous 70th-anniversary celebrations to the return of boarding students and preparation for the academic year, we take a photo-driven look at this past summer at TASIS.
The 2026 TASIS Summer Programs kicked off on Sunday, June 21, with an Opening Day that saw 405 students from more than 60 different nations arrive on campus with their families. Learn more.
Students in our Minnows (ages 4–6), Château des Enfants (CDE, ages 7–10), Middle School Program (MSP, ages 11–13), and High School Program (HSP, ages 14–17) had the opportunity to choose from a wide range of subjects for their main academic offering, including Academic Writing, Architecture & Design, Creative Writing, Digital Photography, English as an Additional Language, Fashion & Textile Design, Filmmaking, French, Italian, Introduction to Investment, La Cucina Italiana, Lean Startup Masterclass, Musical Theater, and STEAM. MSP and HSP students have their choice of more than a dozen afternoon sports. Stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking (MSP and HSP), waterskiing and wakeboarding (MSP and HSP), windsurfing (MSP and HSP), and sailing (MSP and HSP) all take place on beautiful Lake Lugano.
Other afternoon sports included Milan Academy Scuola Calcio, Golf Club, Tennis Club, padel, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, and CrossFit. And then dance, weight training, yoga, spinning, recreational soccer, volleyball, recreational tennis, and basketball were all offered on campus.
From Andermatt to Zermatt and Ascona to Zurich, TASIS’s extensive summer travel program included many day and overnight trips to cultural centers like Milan, Venice, and Rome and outdoor-adventure hubs like Interlaken, San Bernadino, and Gruyere. Every Wednesday throughout the summer, CDE students and counselors embarked on local adventures—by foot, funicular, boat, and train—to explore the Swiss outdoors and culture. See more photos of their trip up Monte Lema and to the Chocolate Alprose Experience Center in Caslano.
MSP students tackled a high-ropes course in Flumserberg on July 4. See more photos.
On July 7, HSP students gathered on the Monticello Terrace for an evening of singing, dancing, and socializing. See more photos.
On July 8, the Minnows read books, enjoyed crafts, and searched for flora and fauna while visiting Montagnola’s outdoor classroom. See more photos.
HSP students in the “Learning to Draw” discovery course took their sketchbooks outdoors on July 14 to paint TASIS’s campus, which ranks atop Architectural Digest’s list of the world’s most beautiful boarding schools.
As the first session approached its conclusion, HSP students kicked off the Summer Arts Festival by sharing their talents in the Palestra on the evening of July 13. Watch the show and see more photos.
On July 14, the Minnows Program welcomed families to Focolare for an open house. The students showcased much of the work they accomplished during the session and performed several songs for their loved ones. See more photos.
HSP students then performed the first of three original musicals that would highlight the first session’s Summer Arts Festival. The High School students performed The Beautiful Game—written by TASIS summer educators Thalia Ranjbar, Mikey Rosenbaum, Ajay Raghuraman, and Mark T Evans—in the Palmer Cultural Center on the evening of July 14. On the evening of July 15, MSP students performed the third original musical, Emma's New Post, in the Palmer Cultural Center. The musical was adapted from Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Emperor’s New Clothes” by TASIS Summer Programs educators Kyle Adkins, Mark T Evans, Jami Reimer, and Mikey Rosenbaum. In addition to the performing arts, the session one Summer Arts Festival also included an exhibition of the many impressive art and design projects created by students from all four programs. Visual Arts offerings during the first session included Art Activities and STEAM for CDE, Digital Photography and STEAM for MSP, and Digital Photography, Filmmaking, Architecture and Design, Fashion and Textile Design, and STEAM for HSP. The TASIS Classes of 1996, 2006, 2016, and 2021 returned to campus for reunions in June and July. The groups toured campus and enjoyed elegant dinners in the Casa Fleming Garden. Learn about upcoming alumni events.

The new arrivals selected a course from a wide range of academic offerings and quickly settled into a routine of intensive academics in the mornings.
TASIS’s youngest students, the Minnows, used Al Focolare, TASIS’s Early Childhood Center, as their home base throughout the summer. See more photos.

In addition to their main academic focus, students from all divisions selected electives to explore during either their Discovery Hour (MSP and HSP students) or afternoon activities (CDE).
MSP and HSP students kept cool with a plethora of afternoon sports on Lake Lugano. Students enjoyed stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking (MSP and HSP), waterskiing and wakeboarding (MSP and HSP), and sailing (MSP and HSP).
Other MSP and HSP students spent their afternoons pursuing specific sporting interests like Golf Club, Tennis Club, mountain biking, rock climbing, CrossFit, weight training, basketball, volleyball, dance, yoga, hiking, recreational soccer, recreational tennis, and spinning.

From Milan’s Duomo and Zermatt’s Matterhorn to Venice’s canals and Valle Verzasca’s bridge, students enjoyed many remarkable travel opportunities during the second session of the TASIS Summer Programs.

On July 31, HSP students in Hugo Baumann’s La Cucina Italiana Cooking class learned how to make apricot tarts, a treat they enjoyed for lunch with schnitzel, pizza, fresh pasta, salad, and other delectable delights they also prepared. See more photos.
MSP students celebrated Swiss Day on August 1 by taking in the celebratory fireworks from a boat on Lake Lugano. See more photos.

TASIS rang in 70 years in style over the weekend of August 21–23, with the very well-attended celebrations including the world premiere of a new documentary about the school, two performances of a musical based on the life of Mrs. Fleming, the official opening of Donald MacDermid Hall & Music Center, an elegant banquet, and much more. Emmy Award-winning filmmaker and TASIS alumna Michele Josue ’97 premiered her latest film, “TASIS Through Time,” in the transformed Palestrina on the evening of August 21. The powerful documentary features rich and rarely seen archival footage spanning 70 years and exclusive interviews with more than 15 beloved figures in TASIS’s storied history. The highly anticipated return of MCF: What a Life!—a joyous musical about the incomparable life of TASIS Founder M. Crist Fleming—was one of the biggest highlights of the 70th-anniversary celebration, with a first-rate cast and crew delivering incredible performances in front of massive audiences in the Palestra on the evening of August 22 and the afternoon of August 23. TASIS was thrilled to welcome back influential author and renowned educational consultant Jay McTighe to campus on August 26 for another engaging day of professional development. See more photos.
On August 28, prefects helped the Residential Life team prepare the dormitories for the return of boarding students. See more photos.
August 31 was Opening Day for the 2026–2027 academic year, with boarding students arriving on campus and moving into their dormitories throughout the day and day students stopping by to register. Student orientation will be held on September 1–2, and classes will officially begin on September 3!
