March 2026

From the first TASIS International Sports Tournament and spectacular Senior Ski Trip to the sensational High School Spring Musical and outstanding IB Visual Arts Exhibition, we take a photo-driven look at the past month at TASIS.

TASIS Athletics Summit

Our Varsity Boys and Girls Volleyball and Basketball teams headed to London from February 26–March 1 to compete against TASIS schools from England, Dorado (Puerto Rico), and Portugal at the first-ever TASIS International Sports Tournament.

Fernando Gonzalez (founder of TASIS Dorado and TASIS Portugal, Chairman of the TASIS Portugal Board, and a member of the TASIS Foundation Board, TASIS Dorado Board, and TASIS England Board) beautifully summed up the spirit of this special weekend at the Closing Ceremony when he turned to all the student athletes and remarked, “Your sportsmanship, your support for each other—not just for your own team members but for your opposing teams—is a real tribute to you and to what I believe is the DNA of TASIS.”

Learn more about the historic weekend, watch a video, and see photos of the Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Volleyball, and Girls Volleyball teams in action as well as some photos of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Four schools. One family. Zero shareholders.

What makes the TASIS experience unique? It’s our foundation. In the ever-changing landscape of international education, the "foundation-owned" model isn't just a business structure: it's a statement of values. Learn more.

Overcoming Great Odds

On the evening of March 10, Milagros Costabel—a freelance journalist with bylines in BBC Future, Foreign Policy, Business Insider, The Telegraph, and Slate—discussed her remarkable life and work in Casa Fleming with students and faculty members involved with the TASIS Speaker Series Committee and Opsahl Global Service Program.

Born blind, Ms. Costabel learned Braille when she was just three years old, launching her on an educational journey that culminated in earning a full scholarship to Harvard University in 2021. A 2025 graduate of Harvard's Government Department, she serves as a Youth Advisor for UN-Habitat and has worked on disability-inclusive employment initiatives with Save the Children and the OHCHR. She speaks internationally on journalism, accessibility, and navigating professional paths without a traditional playbook—drawing on her experience working from 17 countries alongside her guide dog, Indio, whose travels have helped change policies and open doors for future guide dog teams worldwide.

Movers and Shakers

On March 19, college counselors from all four TASIS campuses held their annual meeting at TASIS England, where they discussed best practices, reviewed student support options for grades 9–10, examined case studies, and planned ahead for how best to advocate for TASIS students with universities around the world. They also visited universities together, including a trip to Royal Holloway University.

Just four days later, the TASIS College Counseling team hosted admissions representatives from Babson College, Pepperdine University, and Bard College. Many High School students took advantage of the opportunity to learn about these universities, and the visitors noted how impressed they were with the beauty of the TASIS campus!

Olympic Dreams

At the beginning of the athletics assembly, TASIS student athlete Elene Lomia ’27 conducted an interview with TASIS alumna Veronika Mühlhofer ’97, who is an Olympics venue and media manager, a FIFA executive trainer, and a member of both Rugby Europe and the Swiss Rugby Union. Ms. Mühlhofer was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1997 and went on to earn an undergraduate degree in Economics and master’s degrees in both Sociology and Sports Management at Stanford University.

Ms. Mühlhofer shared memories of the six transformational years she spent at TASIS and discussed her  transition from playing soccer, basketball, and tennis at TASIS to playing rugby at Stanford—a sport she’d go on to play for 20 years. She also discussed her decision to pursue a career in sports and event management that led to a role at the 2006 Winter Olympics and an involvement with all the Olympic games since. She emphasized the importance of pursuing one’s passion—recounting her own journey from sports enthusiast to professional—and closed by discussing some of her favorite memories from the Olympics.

Ms. Mühlhofer also spoke to TASIS students when she was a guest for the 2022–2023 TASIS Speaker Series.

Supporting a Great Cause

The third annual Joe Dusing Memorial Blood Drive was held on March 26 and was once again a big success with another great turnout from the TASIS community. Many thanks to all of the members of our community who donated blood; to Ms. Angela Dusing, Dr. Jill Sawyer-Price, and all of the 10th-grade students in the Joe Dusing Blood Drive Service Learning group; to all of the students and faculty leaders in the Middle School’s Visibility Project Service Learning group; to the many faculty and staff members who volunteered to help out behind the scenes; and to the Swiss Red Cross.

Thanks to the collective efforts of all involved, this community-building event will save or support hundreds of lives while continuing to honor the legacy of Joe Dusing, the former Multimedia Coordinator at TASIS.
