TASIS Students Wow Parents at Family Weekend Performance

TASIS was pleased to welcome the families of Middle School and High School students to campus on the morning of October 21 for the annual Family Weekend celebration. Parents spent the day attending classes with their children and then moved to the Palestra for a first-hand look at some of the extraordinary talent in the TASIS student body and faculty.

Headmaster Lyle Rigg offered a warm welcome to all the families that made the journey to campus and offered a glimpse at the weekend ahead.

The Middle School Choir and music classes then performed Merrick Jarret’s “Land of the Silver Birch.” They were directed by Sarah Grove Locke and accompanied by Jonathan Morris.

Following an excellent speech by Giulio Bianco ’21, the High School A Capella Choir impressed everyone with their performance of The American Authors’ “The Best Day of My Life.” Serena Bardi ’18 and Lauren Riba ’19 directed the piece while Cristina Estevez ’19, Natalie Groet ’18, Maria Veronica Ramos ’19, Lyla Thompson ’20, Gaia Torchiani ’18, and Sergio Vinas ’20 filled out the group.

Alesandra Ponzone Minzi ’17 then took to the podium and delivered a compelling speech about her four years at TASIS.

The High School Choir—directed by Samantha Forrest and accompanied by Jonathan Morris—then gave a spirited performance of the Newsies’ “Seize the Day.”

Following closing remarks from Mr. Rigg, students and faculty members from all three divisions took to the floor for a spectacular finale—an  ensemble performance of “We’re All in this Together” (of High School Musical fame). The spirited rendition was directed by Samantha Forrest, Sarah Grove Locke, and Melody Zanecchia; choreographed by Julie Frazier-Smith and Matthew Frazier-Smith; and accompanied by Jonathan Morris (pianoforte), Alessio di Tonno (guitar), and Gloria de Piante (bass).
