college counseling application by country

In the United States, TASIS students did very well in what has been described as a “crazy” admissions season. They have been offered places at some of the most selective liberal arts colleges in the country—including Barnard College, Colby College, and Reed College—and some of the most well-resourced and selective research universities in the US, including University of California San Diego, Boston University, Fordham University, New York University, Northeastern University, Texas A&M, University of Miami, and Purdue University.

The many talented artists in the Class of 2021 earned quite a few offers from renowned art schools around the world, including University of the Arts London, Berklee College of Music, Istituto Marangoni, Rollins College, and The New School, Parsons School of Design (both New York and Paris). In addition, TASIS students seeking further study in Hospitality or Business have been admitted to a number of first-rate universities within Switzerland, including Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne (EHL), Les Roches International School of Hotel Management, and Glion Institute of Higher Education.

A comprehensive list of the universities to which TASIS students have been accepted is available below. We are incredibly proud of the resilient students in the Class of 2021 and their many achievements!

The TASIS Advantage

The TASIS College Counselors bring more than 100 years of experience in education and admission to the Office, and through the years they've built countless relationships with college and university admissions officers around the world. When these admissions officers are asked how they regard candidates from TASIS, a common theme emerges time and again: they hold the School's mission and internationalism in high regard.

With a student body comprising nearly 60 nationalities, an extensive Academic Travel Program, a pioneering Global Service Program, and a mission to instill the values of personal responsibility, civility, compassion, justice, and truth, TASIS produces well-balanced students who are cultured, intrepid, and socially conscious. This built-in advantage, combined with a rigorous academic program that allows students to pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma or take a wide range of Advanced Placement courses, is the bedrock from which TASIS students pursue their post-secondary goals.

Motivated students build upon this foundation by demonstrating an impressive commitment to a combination of visual and performing arts, athletics, local and global service, and leadership positions on and off campus. They take advantage of the opportunities provided by a school that does not forget its Founder's simple but timeless advice: "Fill all their waking hours with commitment to study, sports, the arts, and responsibility to others. Instruct—stretch them in all areas."

At the conclusion of this school year, two of TASIS’s exceptional college counselors, Greg and Carroll Birk, will retire following long and distinguished careers in international education. Mr. and Mrs. Birk have spent the last 11 years working together to build the TASIS College Counseling Office into the comprehensive and supportive program it is today, and we thank them for their extraordinary efforts on behalf of TASIS students.

The College Counseling Office, which welcomed Director of University and College Counseling Johanna Fishbein and University and College Counselor Kirk Mitchell this fall to help prepare for the departure of the Birks and fill the void created by the 2020 retirement of TASIS legend Howard Stickley, looks forward to adding TASIS England alumnus Conor Fritz to the team next year.
