A Look at the 2019 TASIS Family Weekend

TASIS was honored to welcome the families of Middle and High School students to campus October 11–12 for the annual Family Weekend celebration, which kicked off with an assembly in the Palestra on Friday morning. The inspiring assembly, which can be viewed in full above, included opening and closing remarks from Headmaster Christopher Nikoloff, two excellent speeches from students, and three outstanding musical performances.

Family Weekend at TASIS

As the day continued, parents had an opportunity to visit their children’s classes, meet with the College Counseling Office to discuss any university or IB-related matters, attend parent-teacher conferences, meet with dorm parents, enjoy a few meals in Villa de Nobili, and interact with administrators, faculty members, and other parents at a reception in the Casa Fleming garden.

Teacher conferences during Family Weekend

Saturday morning provided another chance to attend parent-teacher conferences, and the afternoon was dominated by theater and athletics. A presentation by IB Theatre students in the Palmer Center was followed by an open rehearsal for this year’s High School Fall Play, A Christmas Carol, and the boys and girls soccer and volleyball teams continued the Family Weekend tradition of hosting their counterparts from the American School of Milan. (Congratulations to the Varsity Girls Soccer team and the Varsity Boys Volleyball team for earning big wins!)

Athletic contests during Family Weekend

In between all the classes, meetings, assemblies, conferences, meals, receptions, and athletic contests, families were able to enjoy some quiet time on campus in what turned out to be yet another perfect fall weekend in Montagnola. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to attend this year’s Family Weekend!
