This well-attended 10-year reunion brought the campus back to life after the close of the academic year in early June. Alumni started arriving on Thursday, June 13, some coming from as far away as Japan while others arrived from the US, South America, and Europe—all intent on reconnecting with their friends and the School.

The festivities began on Thursday evening at the Principe Leopoldo and continued on Friday with a fun boat tour on Lake Lugano followed by dinner in the Piazza. Serge Bollag had thought through all the details for the reunion, planning the evenings but leaving the days free for ad hoc adventures in small groups.

The evening on campus was a particular highlight of the weekend, starting off with a campus tour led by Director of Institutional Development Bill Eichner—everyone was nostalgic to see their old dorm room or even old classrooms—and followed by elegant cocktails and a buffet dinner in Casa Fleming. Mrs. Lynn Fleming Aeschliman and Mr. Eichner welcomed the alumni back with a few words at the start of the meal. The entire group was later moved by Maksym Voitovych’s spontaneous and heart-warming toast, affirming that Mrs. Fleming’s vision and her memory are kept very much alive here at TASIS. (The class was here when Mrs. Fleming passed away on January 27, 2009, and many of the returning alumni were able to recall her funeral in great detail.)

TASIS staff were delighted to see how connected these former students still are and felt gratified that such a large group (more than 35 attendees) made the trip to Lugano to mark this milestone anniversary. Amongst the group was much talk of a 15th-year reunion and promises to try to make either the London or DC reunions later in the year.
