TASIS Parents Association
Dear TASIS Parents,
 |
TPA President and Vice President Peggy Glaser and Karen Pelly |
Welcome to another exciting year at TASIS! For several years, an informal group of parents have been working to enrich the lives of students at TASIS. Since its inception, TASIS Switzerland has been primarily a boarding school. As the Lugano area continues to grow, so does TASIS, and the complexion of the student body at TASIS has changed somewhat. The percentage of day students is increasing, particularly since the creation of the TASIS elementary school. With the changing student body; the needs of the students, the school, and the parents have changed. So too, has the TASIS Parent Association, or TPA.
The mission of the newly formalized TPA is to support and enhance the school program at all levels; welcome new families and promote a spirit of community by offering assistance, information, and friendship; and encourage parental support and participation to enrich the educational experiences of our children. The TPA raises funds to support various programs within the school.
The TPA has a slate of officers and committee chairs that will lead the TPA. The board consists of a president, a vice-president, a secretary, and a treasurer. In addition members also include room parent coordinator, Italian language liaison and two committee chairs from each of the hospitality and campus life committees. Some of the current services that the TPA provides include; welcoming events, informational seminars and coffees, and other various social gatherings for TASIS parents. The TPA also provides birthday cakes and flowers, exam care packages and other welcome treats available for purchase for your child. We are pleased to provide an easy payment option through PayPal. We also sell attractive and practical school merchandise at various times during the year.
We welcome and encourage you to become involved in any capacity. There are many opportunities at almost any level of commitment. The choice is yours. First and foremost, we urge you to become a member of the TPA. There are no fees or dues associated with membership, and any family with a child attending TASIS is eligible. You must, however, elect to become a member by filling out the TPA Membership Application Form 2009 - 2010. By becoming a member, you by no means obligate yourself for service in any way, but you will gain insight into the activities of the school via the TPA Newsletter, and ensure that you have a voice within the TASIS community. Please let us know how we might best serve you by providing the requested information.
We look forward to meeting each and every one of you this year. Please contact the TPA at tpa@tasis.ch with questions or comments.
Warm regards,
Peggy Glaser, TPA President
