The Varsity Boys Volleyball team continued its strong start to the season with a convincing 2-0 victory over visiting International School of Milan on Thursday.
Throughout the match, the six-man squad from ISM proved they had plenty of strength on offense and defense, at times even looking like they might swing the momentum in their direction. Strong hitters on both teams resulted in some great matchups at the net and opportunities for exciting saves and blocks.
Although still struggling with some rotation and communication issues, the Tigers had moments where they excelled both offensively and defensively. Seniors Nicola Barbieri ’18 and Can Basaran ’18 led the offense with powerful spikes and smart tipping to rack up a number of points for the Tigers. Junior outside/setter Nadir Timerbaev ’19 also kept the pressure on ISM with multiple serving rallies, and Sergio Vinas ’20 and Ivan Linnikov ’22 both contributed some amazing digs to bolster the defense.
The final result was a 25-15, 25-19 sweep of ISM to give TASIS its fifth win of the season against zero defeats.
