Turning the Clock Back 40 Years

A dozen alumni from the Class of 1977 got together in the Los Angeles area over the weekend of August 25–27 to celebrate and marvel at the passing of 40 years since their graduation from TASIS.

On Friday evening, members from the celebrating class were joined by other alumni from the 1970s for a cocktail party at the iconic Santa Monica hotel Shutters on the Beach. The sound of waves breaking on the beach was the backdrop for dinner on Saturday evening, generously hosted by Cari Wolk '77 at her beautiful and elegant home right on the ocean in Malibu. After a delicious dinner on the deck, everyone piled indoors for a screening of Pushing All The Buttons. Mrs. Fleming's presence was palpable as her voice rang out, and she lives on in the affection of these alumni who feel they knew her at her best.

Special cookies had been made for the reunion with pictures of Mrs. Fleming, and one also included Cari along with MCF and her memorable black mini! Many thanks are owed to Cari for her generous spirit, love of TASIS and MCF, and energy in planning and organizing this reunion over the past months.

At the send-off brunch on Sunday, Greg Goldstein voiced his opinion that the 40th anniversary is even more meaningful than the 50th. Not everyone was in agreement, though, and we'll have to wait to find out in ten years. Summer 2027: Save the Date!
